Darrell passed away peacefully January 23rd after a long and wonderful life. Darrell was born in Naponee, Nebraska and spent his childhood moving west during the depression. he graduated from Wilder High School in Idaho in 1939 before joining the Army in 1942. Darrell was a member of the 11th Armored Division and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge.
After the war Darrell moved to Oregon and started a long career working for the teamsters at Borden's and Fred Meyers before retiring in 1985.
Darrell married Carolyn Anderton in 1950. They had three children and he started coaching sports and was involved in the Boy Scouts for many years as a Scoutmaster. After retirement Darrell enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, playing cards along with OSU games in the fall. He remained very active in the 11th Armored division and attended conventions every year until they disbanded in 2010.
Darrell was preceded in death by Carolyn in 2002 after 52 years of marriage. He is survived by daughter Kathy (Jerry) Novak, sons Doug (Debbie) Romjue and Gerry (Laura) Romjue. He also was very proud of his grandchildren Michelle, Chelsie, Ashley, Holly, Bradley, Erik, Jolene and Danny and his great-grandchildren Mason, Gavin and Addison.
